MEET YOUR CARPENTER
Life long experience
Mark began his woodworking career in the lumberyard his father ran as soon as he was old enough to work (perhaps even before he was old enough). When he wasn’t hunting or fishing, he was at the lumberyard and continued working there through high school, college, and even after earning his degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Management.
Living on the other side of the planet for a year opened Mark’s eyes to the many species of wood, their uses, and the intricacies of woodworking for craft as well as functionality.
Upon their return to the US and South Dakota, Mark’s hobbies of hunting and fishing became his job when he took a position as a Wildlife Conservation Officer. With that, woodworking became his hobby.
Today, Mark’s focus in woodworking is to make the functional beautiful and the beautiful functional. He loves using a variety of wood species along with different patterns, stains, and even epoxies to achieve truly unique and beautiful results in cutting boards, cabinets, shelves, tables and more. When he's not in the shop, Mark enjoys sitting on his deck.
